4th Quarter Blog 1

Jesus had many admirers for his great use of power and help. But Jesus picked 12 specific apostles to follow him and help continue his good works for His people. One of these apostles were John, also known as a son of thunder. John was known to be as the beloved son and a good companion of Jesus. He was the author of the New Testament books as the Gospel of John. John had a brother name James which Jesus referred to them as "The Sons of Thunder". John preached about baptism and the repentance of our sins. John also preaches that he baptized everyone with water but Jesus baptized everyone with the Holy Ghost. I can live out discipleship in my life by following the example of John and the other Apostles. By giving back to my community just like John did with his people and Jesus by baptizing them. Following his example will take us closer to leading others just like the apostles did.

Isaiah is regarded as one of the greatest Old Testament propets. He was blessed by God to have so many people of Judah follow him and look up to him. He preached during reigns of four of Judah's Kings.
Isaiah's message to the people was basically to turn away from false gods and idols and return to him. I feel as though he did the right thing for his people so they won't turn to evil. I believe he guided them the right way just like we have parents to guide us the right thing to do.

In the Divided Kingdom St. Augustine discusses the troubles in his time. How Jeroboam the King of Israel doesn't believe in God. People are being seduced by him. The people of God were worshipping other idols. They worshipped a false God name Baal.

Kings at the time offended God very much and his people. The temple was broken down and kept in captivity for seventy years. The broken temple was eventually rebuilt in some time.

The people of God were scattered. Elijah and Elisha were good prophets of God, and the people of God should've followed them. I believe they should've followed them so they could've avoided other troubles, and not make any regrettable mistakes.

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing. A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace. What profit is there to the worker from that in which he toils?  I have seen the task which God has given the sons of men with which to occupy themselves.

The author of the Ecclesiastes was Qoheleth. It was written in the 14th Century. The Ecclesiates was disturbed by four things. One was that wise people would perish just like fools. Another was those who worked hard for living had to leave their possessions when they die. Sometimes the bad people live longer than the good people. Finally, the most deceiving people did not always get what they earned.
The two themes of the Ecclesiastes was that life is not always fair and there's no easy answer to things.

I believe the author is reflecting to life and is facing the truth in things what must eventually come for each of us. I believe the quote just discusses with us what life is all about and what we may face with. Also each and everything has a moment and we would have ours one day also.
